In Montana, freedom isn't an abstract concept or a political slogan. It is the right to make our own decisions, live our lives, and be left alone.
There is an old saying out here that good fences make good neighbors. It means we respect boundaries. We look out for each other, but we don't nose into each other's business. We expect the government to honor those same exact boundaries.
We don't want the state involved in our private lives, our homes, or our personal choices. When bureaucracy expands, it always tries to tell you how to run your property, how to live your life, and what is best for your family. But a bureaucrat in a distant office will never know what is best for your life better than you do.
A representative's true job isn't to create more government presence in your day-to-day life. It is to protect the constitutional liberties that keep the state out of your private business.
We demand that the government respect our privacy and leave us alone to live our lives.
